The Advanced Critical Languages Institute for Russian Immersion (ACLI) for Summer 2012
Program: The Advanced Critical Languages Institute for Russian Immersion (ACLI) is a Total Immersion Russian language program designed jointly by the State University of New York at Stony Brook and colleagues from 7 Russian partner Universities. The 2012 program will be held in beautiful St. Petersburg.
Dates: June 21-August 5, 2012
Credit: 9 transferable credits from Stony Brook University, a SUNY campus, at public tuition rates. ACLI students qualify for FLAS and Gilman scholarships.
Eligibility: Undergraduates and Graduates students with 2+ years of University-level Russian may apply. Previous in-country study experience strongly preferred.
Description: The goal of ACLI is “Ultimate Attainment” (full fluency in a non-native language) in Russian, a Critical Language. ACLI students speak only Russian for the duration of the 6-week program. ACLI students enjoy Russian-speaking homestays while studying for 4-5 hours daily in small groups with professional pedagogy specialists at St. Petersburg State University. ACLI also includes lectures, films, and a dynamic cultural program designed to allow participants to see the many faces of St. Petersburg.
ACLI is especially appropriate for those who have already studied in Russia on an introductory Study Abroad Program and want to be challenged further.
