The unique chamber cello duet “Ian and Ani” is going to have a recital at the Salon on Saturday, November 19th, at 7 p.m.
For many, cellist Ian Maksin needs no introduction. Praised for his hauntingly beautiful sound and passionate interpretations, he is quickly gaining recognition not only in Chicago, but also across the country and globe – both as a cellist and a composer. His performances have consistently culminated in standing ovations and have been described by critics as a “unique listening experience”. Bulgarian pianist Ani Gogova has made Chicago her home since 2003, when she was employed by the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University—the youngest professor to join the world-renowned faculty of the Music Conservatory there. Ani has been acclaimed for her “dazzling artistic presence,” “masterful poetic expression,” “ravishing colors,” and “virtuoso technique beyond reproach.” The winner of numerous national and international competitions, she has appeared in solo recitals and concerts with orchestras here, in America, and in Europe.
The recital program will include music of Spanish and Latin American composers such as Gaspar Cassadó, Alberto Ginastera, Manuel de Falla, and Astor Piazzolla.
Where:Computer Systems Institute, 8950 Gross Point Road, Skokie (there is free parking around the building and it is only a ten-minute walk from the Skokie Swift Yellow Line for those who are not driving)
Cost: $20 to benefit musicians
