Opening Friday, Oct 1st at 7:00 pm and continuing through Oct. 30, 2010

ALEXANDER TKACHENKO & LEONID KOZLOV

Alexander Tkachenko, rated as a master artist in his native Ukraine, has developed his own style based
on the traditions of the Renaissance masters. Subtle forms and free-flowing lines render his subjects as seamless as the tonality of his colors. His work is steeped in imagery with ancient and modern symbols. Tkachenko received his degree from the Dnipropetrovsk College of Art and in 1987 was accepted as a member of the Artists’ Union of Ukraine, where he worked as a designer and graphic artist. Several of his works received prestigious awards at the Eastern European Graphics Art show in Antwerp, Holland, in 1989.

Since 1991 Mr. Tkachenko has taken permanent residence in the United States where he works actively as a professional artist. His projects include mural fresco paintings in public and private interiors, book illustrations and of course his painting. Tkachenko’s works are exhibited in and represented by The Opus Gallery in Cleveland, the Alla Rogers Gallery in Washington, the Gallery Birmingham in Birmingham, Michigan, and other venues. His works are owned by private collectors in Europe and North America. The Ukrainian National Museum is proud to have his artwork in its permanent collection.

Leonid Kozlov, a member of Ukrainian artistic society, completed his studies at the Kyiv Arts Academy in 1982. He is well-known as an artist who created an entire group of exquisite works dedicated to the art of the dance and ballerinas. Visitors will observe how that inspiration has impacted the gracefulness of his sculptures in bronze. Slender, posed figures express an internal energy that is skillfully captured in the artistry of Leonid Kozlov’s sculpture. He carries the spectator into his spiritual landscape which is deeply rooted in Ukrainian soil. Leonid Kozlov was born in Kyiv in 1954. His works are displayed in museums throughout Ukraine and are found in private collections in Germany, Great Britain, the United States, Sweden, Russia, France, and Finland. The artist has had various personal exhibits and projects including international exhibits in Vienna, Austria; Paris, France; Berlin, Germany; Kyoto, Japan; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States.
