Repairs continue at the Palisades nuclear plant via Detroit Free Press

VAN BUREN COUNTY

Work continues at the Palisades nuclear plant, which shut down June 12 to repair a water tank leak, plant spokesman Mark Savage said Friday.

The tank contained 300,000 gallons of borated water, which is used to cool the reactor when nuclear fuel is replaced or to cool the core in an emergency.

No date has been set for the plant to reopen, Savage said.
