Filmmaker Wenders visits Fukushima via The Japan Times Online

FUKUSHIMA — German movie director Wim Wenders, visiting Iitate, Fukushima Prefecture, said nuclear power generation is the only invention that may destroy the future of human beings.

The 66-year-old filmmaker met Thursday with Iitate residents still living in the village even though the government advises people to evacuate due to the relatively high levels of radiation coming from the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant. When a woman told Wenders she has nagging concerns about radiation, he said he didn’t know how to help her other than to tell her she is not alone.
